Vessels

Textured oil paintings of vessels inspired from living in Sudan - Originally these paintings represented the water containers ‘ziirs’ from Sudan. These pots are sometimes left outside houses, filled with water for passing travellers to quench their thirst . The compassion struck me and I fell in love with this idea of sharing and the humanity of welcome that comes from living in such a culture.
In time these paintings of vessels have evolved into metaphorical representations of the human experience.
Silver Lining is based on the Japanese art of Kingsuki - stitched with sterling silver on it’s rip with fine silver leaf behind - hand stitched prints are available from my shop
